When you open the connection page to our system for the first time, chances are, you
will get a couple of messages. There is no way that we can bypass these messages
with the security updates that Microsoft has put out to increase the security level of
Internet Explorer. This page will walk you through the common messages you will see.
When the page firsts opens up, you may get a message similar to the following.
Please click "OK" if you get this message to proceed.
After clicking "OK", you may see at the top of your Internet Explorer window a
message stating that Internet Explorer stopped the site from installing an ActiveX
control. If you get this message, click on the message and then click on
"Install ActiveX Control. This will start the installation of the RDP and
Screwdrivers clients.
When the client has downloaded you may be prompted to Install the software, if so, you
will get two prompts. You will want to click on the Install button. The first
will look like/say this:
After the Remote Desktop ActiveX control has installed, you will then be prompted to
install the ScrewDrivers printer client (below). Click Install.
Once both installations have completed, you are ready to go. On the right hand of the screen you will
see a button to "Connect". When you click the connect button, you will be
asked if you would like the system to be able to access your local hard drive. If
you would like to have this functionality, just click "OK". If you are on
a public computer at a Kiosk or something similar, uncheck the box asking to connect to
the local drives and click "OK". Everytime you connect to the system, you
will be prompted for this action. This is a security feature implemented by
Microsoft that we can't turn off.
Click on the button to get started! On the initial page load, it may take a few
minutes in order to download the clients. The length of time will depend upon your
internet connection speed.
